AARP

AARP Driver Safety Program
Learn to drive defensively and not be a casualty in this four-hour course. Learn how to adjust your driving in response to age-related physical changes and declining perceptual skills. Rules of the road, local driving problems and safety tips are also discussed. This course is classroom-based with no driving or tests. Completion of this course may qualify you for an insurance discount-check with your agent. Co-sponsored by AARP. Bring a sack lunch or go out to eat in the community. Class fee is to be paid to the instructor at the start of class. $12 AARP members, $14 non-members.

Commercial Driving Programs

Class A CDL Training
Our four-week, 160-hour program packs all the learning of a traditional program into a convenient, streamlined package that gets you on the road quickly. Tremendous job opportunities are available through our lifetime placement program. Learn the safe driving skills necessary to get your Class A CDL, and in return receive the potential for a lucrative career with excellent pay and benefits. Program hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Evening and weekend hours may also be available. Times for classes are subject to change due to weather or class sizes. Student must obtain a CDL permit prior to start of class. CBIZ will schedule drug screen and physical for candidates prior to start of class. Fee includes tuition, books, DOT physical, drug screen, license & permit fees. Need-based tuition assistance may be available through GAP programs. See page xx. Moped Safety
A certified moped course must be completed by anyone 14 or 15 years of age wishing to obtain a moped license in Iowa. Certificates will be issued to those who successfully complete the course. Students should bring a sack lunch.

Motorcycle Safety - Basic Rider Course
Successful completion of this 15-hour course by motorcycle riders over 18 years of age, can results in a waiver for the driving portion of the Iowa DOT motorcycle license endorsement.  The course also fulfills the Iowa DOT mandatory motorcycle driving requirements for legal riders up to 18 years of age.  Besides new riders, the class is also open to any rider with the DOT motorcycle riding endorsement interested in learning safe riding techniques. Bring a helmet, gloves, face shield, goggles, or approved DOT eye protection. Wear long sleeves, long pants and leather shoes or boots that cover the ankle. Motorcycles are provided. Your book is included in the course fee. The class is limited to 6 (1 rider coach) or 12 (2 rider coaches). Participants must sign-up for, and complete, the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) e-course prior to taking the class instruction.  Call 319-208-5375 to register.

New Motorcycle Safety - Basic Rider Course 2
For riders who already have basic skills. Similar to the BRC except speeds are higher and you should be on your own motorcycle. An excellent refresher course for practicing and renewing riding skills. Includes an informal classroom component for discussing safety concepts based on past riding experiences and current knowledge. If you do not need the license waiver component (no classroom activities and no knowledge or skill test), there is a "Skills Practice" offering.
